TRW's Electrically Powered Steering Belt Drive system, provides premium performance across a wide range of vehicle platforms. This system is also the most efficient EPS system that TRW Automotive has to offer. Assist power is applied directly to the rack allowing for lower inertia, lower friction and more direct feel, as well as enhanced response times. These electronically controlled steering systems enable dynamic steering characteristics which are not possible with hydraulic steering, all of which can be tuned to many different preferences. And electric steering can more readily be integrated with other vehicle control functions such as TRW electronic braking systems to offer integrated functions. As with all other TRW electromechanical steering systems, the Belt Drive EPS consumes power only when steering assist is needed. The product is delivered as a fully tested, ready-to-install unit and all steering belts, pulleys, and hydraulic lines are eliminated making the product easy to install and maintain. The Belt Drive EPS system also offers optimized fuel efficiency in comparison to conventionally assisted steering systems.
