TRW's Electrically Powered Steering Column Drive system delivers superior performance primarily for the small car segment. As with all other TRW electromechanical steering systems, the Column Drive EPS consumes power only when steering assist is needed. The Column Drive system is an attractive option particularly when under hood space is at a premium. The column mount configuration can potentially reduce costs due to it's location in the passenger compartment which enables reduced requirements concerning temperature and sealing in comparison to systems which are installed in the engine compartment.
