Engine Components

TRW Automotive Engine Components division can look back on a history of more than 100 years in the manufacturing of valve and valve train components.  In 1903, two years after the founding of the company, the first bi-metallic valves were delivered to the Winton Motors Company in the United States, and in 1921 the first silcrome valves were produced.  In 1927, TRW developed and produced the first sodium-cooled engine valves for the legendary "Spirit of St. Louis" airplane flown by Charles Lindbergh in the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean.

In the group's own Engineering Center of Excellence, the design and development of valves and valve trains is continuously optimized.  The mechanical and thermal loads of the components are tested with the aid of computer-assisted simulation calculations.  The results benefit our customers with reduced development times, lower system costs and higher operating reliability.

TRW Engine Components provides more than 100 years of experience and quality to engine manufacturers all over the world.
